More than one hundred participants joined the third event of the ESA Commercialisation Days series, this time focused on Green Energy, at the European Space Agency - ESA HQ in Paris! Two days full of speeches, startup pitches, panel discussions and networking opportunities around the topics of energy sustainability and energy resilience and how the commercialisation of space-based technologies can support the renewable energy sector for the energy transition and ensure continuous and affordable energy supply. On 21 February 2024, the European Space Agency - ESA In-Space Proof-of-Concepts (InSPoC) venture launched its first session of the In-Space Transportation Club, a new professional network of SpaceTech experts, technology providers, prime contractors and investors interested in shaping the future of European space transportation. The event, which focused on the topic of in-orbit rendezvous and docking, a key capability for enabling reusable space-tugs, orbital propellant depots and in-orbit servicing, gathered 220 members. The vision of this venture, part of the ESA STS Future Launchers Preparatory Programme (FLPP), is to enable an ecosystem with a scalable, modular in-space transportation fleet based on optimised reusable launchers. Great start of the ESA Commercialisation Days: Space Forum for Green Energy! The European Space Agency - ESA Director General Josef Aschbacher opened the event presenting the active involvement of the Agency in the green energy transition, followed by ESA Director of Commercialisation, Industry and Competitiveness Geraldine Naja who highlighted how space commercialisation is supporting the European ecosystem. The New Space Advisory Board (NAB) is the senior advisory body to the Director General of the European Space Agency - ESA on all matters concerning Space Commercialisation, whose objective is sharing lessons learned to support ESA executives in the elaboration of an ESA commercialisation policy and the ESA transformation process to adapt to the New Space needs. We are currently engaged on the renewal of the members of the NAB for this second cohort (2024-2027), looking for diverse candidate companies whose representative can commit a few hours per month, including the quarterly general sessions of the board, and work closely with ESA DG Josef Aschbacher and ESA Director of Commercialisation, Industry and Competitiveness Geraldine Naja.
